Professional Experience
Michael Zermeño, CPA, works with privately held businesses in reviewing, auditing and preparing financial statements for compliance requirements, year-end and special requests. His practical approach and interest in using numbers and analysis to assemble a financial picture has allowed him to help clients better understand how accurate financials can help in planning and responding to the needs of the business.

Michael joined RP&B in 2012 with experience as a tax preparer, an accounting manager for a privately held business and a volunteer overseeing students providing pro-bono tax returns to individuals – all while putting himself through school to pursue his Accounting degree and CPA license.

His experience with entrepreneurs along with his interest in working through accounting complexities, drew him to work with ESOP clients. Known for his keen attention to detail, Michael ensures that ESOP plans are accurately reported following GAAP and that processes are in place to maintain the recordkeeping required.

With expertise in GAAP ESOP accounting and employee benefit plan audits, Michael speaks at industry association meetings to further the understanding of the complexities and benefits of an ESOP.
